Do you want to have a creative jumpstart? Do you have a hard time finding space in your day to write? In this workshop, the goal is to get words on the page and unlock inspiration. We read the works of great flash fiction pieces to discover what captivates and arrests our attention, and what resonates with a reader long after the last line is read. After discussing these examples the class will be given a series of writing prompts. Come ready to write! Students will produce writing to start a new story or find fresh avenues into a work in progress. You will receive in-class feedback from the instructor and your classmates.
This class is for writers of all levels looking for inspiration and motivation.
This workshop is open to writers working in all genres, and writers at all levels of skill and experience are welcome to join.
Libby Flores’ writing has appeared in The Kenyon Review, Gagosian Quarterly, American Short Fiction, Ploughshares, Post Road Magazine, Mc Sweeney’s, Tin House /The Open Bar, The Guardian, Paper Darts, and The Los Angeles Review of Books. She is the Associate Publisher at BOMB magazine. Libby holds an MFA in creative writing from Bennington College. She lives in Brooklyn, but will always be a Texan. She is represented by Sarah Bowlin at Aevitas Creative Management.
